TOBIN Consulting Engineers are currently seeking a Technical Support Specialist, to join our Information Technology (IT) team in our Galway Office. This position is primarily of a 1st & 2nd level Technical Support.

Tobin Consulting Engineers has sites in Castlebar, Dublin and Limerick and there will be a requirement to support these other locations. Flexibility to support all locations is a necessity.

The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the IT Manager. The person will assist users with any IT queries by responding to logged incidents and service requests. The person will continue to monitor the progress of IT requests on logged calls and assist with phone, remote and ongoing support.

Flexibility outside of normal business hours and weekend work will be required on occasion.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision of 1st/2nd level support to users for all issues raised by the helpdesk ticketing system.
• Support for Microsoft Office, Outlook, Network access, Hardware etc.
• Experience in installing, maintaining and supporting pc’s, printers, and applications.
• Configuration and support of mobile devices.
• Escalation of queries when necessary.
• Communication with users to ensure that they are appraised of problem progress and to confirm resolution.
• Responding to users in a timely and accurate way, via phone, email, or teams.
• Support IT project initiatives as required.
• Performance of daily tasks, ad-hoc variety.
• Experience supporting Autodesk Design software would be an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

• Have proven IT Support experience in a service delivery role.
• General knowledge of Hardware
• Experience within the Microsoft environment
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and strong analytical skills
• Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
• Be customer-focused and goal orientated with keen attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize work and make decisions


A relevant third-level qualification of at least QQI Level 5 on the National Framework or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume, high-quality technical support role.
