TOBIN Consulting Engineers completed an EIA Screening, NIS, Environmental Considerations Report and Waste Licence application for the new North City Operations Depot (NCOD) on behalf of Dublin City Council. The project will involve the centralisation of several Dublin City Council depots which service the north side of the city under one roof. The move will enhance the operational efficiency of maintenance works in the departments of housing, waste management, traffic, roads and water. Office space will be provided for approximately 150 employees, with vehicular space for 132 council vehicles and up to 200 staff cars between a multi storey car park and specific garages for larger vehicles. Purpose built workshops for vehicles and signage shall be constructed, along with an onsite welding facility and waste management facilities. The project design will also provide a public Civic Amenity Facility which will be delivered as a separate entity with a separated entrance point, providing waste storage and handling facilities for recyclable waste, green waste, bulky waste and priority household hazardous wastes. The project was granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanala in 2018. An application for a Waste Licence for the facility prepared by TOBIN was made to the EPA in 2019 and is currently under review.
