The €12m GAA ‘National Games Development Centre’ was officially opened at the National Sports Campus on Saturday 2nd April 2016.
This nationally important project for the GAA includes a total of five playing pitches; four of them full size and all of them floodlit, a 3G pitch, a highly innovative hurling wall and a pavilion which houses 10 dressing-rooms, a reception area, a gymnasium, associated facilities for physiotherapy, referee rooms, meeting rooms, and dining facilities. Furthermore, the building makes use of the latest sustainable energy options to reduce the running costs on a life cycle basis. A covered seated spectator area adjoining the pavilion can cater for 400 people.
This National Games Development Centre will play a pivotal role in increasing participation and improving the performance of individuals (players, coaches, administrators, personnel, etc.) within the GAA for the benefit of both the association and the individuals.
