TOBIN provided Civil and Structural Design Services for the development of the Barrack View Primary Care Centre, located at Lord Edward Street, Limerick. We provided input over 2 separate contracts with the first involving demolition, site clearance and removal of contaminated ground.

The demolition works were carried out on the existing ca. 0.6ha brownfield site, which was previously occupied by a clothing factory building. The previous factory building was demolished to concrete slab level. The scope of works included for the demolition and removal of offsite to appropriate licensed landfill/recycling facilities, the existing concrete slab, existing hardstanding areas, existing structure and all associated services. Existing underground services were taken up, capped off and diverted.

TOBIN thereafter, provided Civil and Structural Design Services for the construction of the 2-storey, 60-room concrete frame Primary Care Centre structure. The total building footprint is approximately 1,750m² over two storeys. The building was designed to achieve an A3 BER Energy Rating. The two-storey civic building is set within a site adjacent to an existing student housing scheme and a local authority housing scheme, which is part of a protected structure and required sensitive treatment in terms of building conservation.
