TOBIN Consulting Engineers was delighted to lend expertise to the construction of the new North City Operations Depot of Dublin City Council. The project involved the centralisation of several Dublin City Council depots which service the north side of the city under one roof. The move will enhance the operational efficiency of maintenance works in the departments of housing, waste management, traffic, roads, and water. Office space was designed by TOBIN for approximately 150 employees, with vehicular space for 132 Council vehicles and up to 200 staff cars between a multi-storey car park and specific garages for larger vehicles. Purpose-built workshops for vehicles and signage will be constructed, along with an onsite welding facility. A 457m² salt barn was provided, in order to store up to 2,200 tonnes of road salt.

TOBIN delivered a high standard of finish in order to fulfill the public realm element of this job. The civic amenity aspect of this design was delivered as a separate entity with a distinct access route, providing waste disposal services for recycling, green waste, bulky waste, and priority waste.
