This project comprises of the construction of a 900mm Ogee Pipe to be laid in the dry channel starting at Shortt’s Bridge, which will collect the existing outfalls and connect them to an existing Foul Sewer pipe on the north side of Small’s bridge, from where wastewater will flow by gravity to Templemore wastewater treatment plant for treatment.
Also included in the works is to infill the dry channel, creating a new space potentially for a footpath and/or cycle path.
Local materials (soil and stone) excavated as part of the Mall River (Templemore) Flood Relief Scheme will be used for infill where possible. To the west of O ‘Dwyer’s Bridge, the new space will include a metal grid covering with a removable cover to allow access to the pipe for future maintenance.
